Christie has been a local small business owner and grew her company incrementally over a period of 30 years. She lives in Dummerston where she has raised her two sons. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and Coastal Ecology from the University of Massachusetts. She has studied and traveled the barrier islands up and down the Eastern seaboard, and was the Town Conservationist for Amherst, MA. In 1984 Christie enlisted in the Army, and later in 1987 was commissioned as a second lieutenant from the Massachusetts Military Academy. She recently retired after proudly serving her country for 31 years. After her return from Afghanistan in 2014, Christie volunteers at The Warrior Connection, a local veterans retreat program in Dummerston founded by Dr. Anne Black. Christie is an avid hockey player and has enjoyed many years being on the ice both as a player and coach. She was coaching director for the Brattleboro Hockey Association, BHA board member and boys’ hockey coach. Christie has always been a stargazer at how the Strolling of the Heifers has grown over the years. She is thrilled to be part of such a large community event and looks forward to working with amazing people both within the staff and among the community.
