Walking the Labyrinth as a Self-Care and Mindfulness Tool
The use of labyrinths for both walking and tracing has become widespread in not only
community spaces like parks and churches over the last 20 years, they are
increasingly being utilized in healthcare institutions, schools, and other specialized
venues across the US and beyond. The labyrinth offers a venue and safe space where
one can quiet the mind, find some peace, ask questions, bring intentions for healing,
or just take a break from the fast paced world around us, in just the time it takes to
walk or interact with one.
Sadelle Wiltshire is a Veriditas-Certified Labyrinth Facilitator from Putney, Vermont.
She will give a brief introduction to the labyrinth and offer an experiential labyrinth
walk as a mindfulness practice using an 18 foot canvas labyrinth and will also have on
hand small finger labyrinths for those who are more comfortable sitting
Opportunities to sit and reflect after the walk will be available, with papers for
journaling or drawing, as well as a chance to share vocally if one wishes.
