Todd Roach is a percussionist, teacher and producer living in Brattleboro, Vermont. He has been playing a variety of world percussion instruments since 1989, and he has taught and performed throughout the U.S. and in Canada, South America and Europe. Most recently, Todd played with the Paul Winter Consort at the Latchis Theater in Brattleboro.
Mr. Roach is an artist endorser and representative for the Cooperman Drum Company, based in Saxtons River, Vermont. He is also an active educator in the local community, teaching drumming residencies in many of the schools and serving as the founder and co-director of two education programs in Brattleboro, the Kindle Farm School Music and Arts Program and The Loft Youth Percussion Ensemble.
For this presentation, Todd will present some of the traditional drums from his studies, talk about their playing techniques and demonstrate how he uses these instruments in a modern musical context. Performances will include some drum solos and live looping. In addition, local percussionist Julian Gerstin he will join him and they will play a couple of original drum compositions.
