October Gallery at the Garden presents: Windham County is Hiring: 7th Annual Career Expo
October 1 @ 9:00 am - October 4 @ 5:00 pm
The 7th Annual Southern Vermont Career EXPO will be held on Thursday October 17th, 2019. Representatives from over 40 area employers, employment agencies, and educational organizations will have booths set up at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden in downtown Brattleboro from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Windham County residents of all ages and various employment needs will be able to connect with employers and learn about current full-time and part-time job opportunities or look ahead to explore career pathways and the training needed to pursue them.
The Southern Vermont Career EXPO has a dual-focus; to offer opportunities for job seekers to access employment and internship opportunities on-site, and to raise greater awareness of jobs and careers in Windham County. The Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) leads the planning team to better connect educators and service providers with regional employers, ensuring all community members have access to employment opportunities. By raising awareness of the job opportunities available to graduating high school and college students, and through partnering with the Vermont Department of Labor, VocRehab Vermont and Creative Workforce Solutions, businesses have access to the best prepared Vermonters ready to enter the workforce. The Career Expo Committee is currently in the process of registering businesses, organizing sponsorships, and inviting area high schools, colleges, and the general public. Exhibitor table registration and more information for job-seekers can be found at www.vermontcareerexpo.com, or contact Alex Beck at 802.257.7731 ext. 214.
This years sponsors represent the diversity of organizations, industries, and stakeholders in the strength and vitality of the Southern Vermont workforce. They include Chroma Technology Corps, UNFI, Longfalls Paperboard, The Brattleboro Retreat, C&S Wholesale Grocers, and Bear Country 95.3FM.
In addition to these sponsors, the Southern Vermont Career Expo has partnered with the Winston Prouty Center, who will be providing free childcare to job-seekers who register on the Career Expo webpage.
The Career EXPO planning team includes representatives from Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation, Creative Workforce Solutions, Southeastern Vermont Community Action, Vermont Department of Labor, and VocRehab Vermont, Vermont Agency of Human Services, and the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation. These regional partners are collaboratively developing a local workforce system to serve Windham County, it’s employers, and job seekers.
