February Gallery At The Garden Presents: Painter Martha Dolan and Photographer Aaron John Bourque

February 24 @ 9:00 am - February 28 @ 5:00 pm

Tree of Life by Martha Dolan

Southern Vermont painter Martha Dolan says “I draw from my imagination. My inspiration for my art comes from nature. I create places that I have been to, or visualize places that I would like to experience. I am especially inspired by the mystique of the Vermont nighttime sky, the rural romanticism of the Meadows at the confluence of the West and Connecticut rivers, and the powerful beauty of Mt. Wantastiquet.  As I meditate among the all this scenic loveliness,….worlds come to life on the once white page.”

Aaron John Bourque is an artist, photographer, and educator. By visiting document archives and reading the landscape for the evidence of our histories, Bourque creates lyric documents that a find tension between the descriptive qualities of the photographic object and the experience of an encounter with the world. Bourque’s work searches for connections to the places we dwell, the system that shape daily life, and the histories we leave behind.

North Adams, MA – Natural Bridge

His work is a meditation on America’s relationship with its own history, and a challenge to know the places we call home. Bourque is a Full Time Lecturer of Art and Design, as well as Art and Design Coordinator for Graduate Studies and Research, for the College of Visual and Performing Arts @ UMass Dartmouth.  He holds a B.A. in History Keene State College, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and an MFA from Tufts University. His fine art and commercial studio is based in Framingham Massachusetts.
