During Gallery Walk: Brattleboro Area 2019 Unsung Hero of the Year Award Presentation

3 May, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Since 2016, Individuals or groups providing selfless and invaluable service to persons in need have been honored with our Unsung Heroes Award.
This year Compassionate Brattleboro recognizes Brattleboro area volunteers of the Community Asylum Seekers Project (CASP) for their work in welcoming and supporting asylum seekers into our community and providing them with a safe, healthy, and caring place to live while their asylum cases are being processed by the US government. Introductions, Speeches and awards will be at 6pm.

On Friday, May 3, at 12-1pm, join Steve Crofter during the Brown Bag Series at the River Garden and hear more about Asylum Seekers in Our Country & in Our Community. Who are asylum seekers? Why do they come to the United States and what do they experience when they arrive? Steve Crofter, the director of the local nonprofit Community Asylum Seekers Project, will share some stories of those courageous souls who journey to seek refuge. You will also learn about CASP and how you can support asylum seekers here in our local communities.
