Please become a friend of Strolling of the Heifers! Your gift of any amount helps Strolling of the Heifers to continue its support of New England’s family farms.

Strolling of the Heifers works to educate the public, and especially school children, about the importance of sustainable local agriculture; we work to preserve the livelihoods of farming families and the health of consumers who depend on local farm products; and we help maintain the patronage of tourists who are drawn to our agricultural environment.

We’ve done all that since 2001 while delivering to our region a great deal of enjoyment each June with the annual Strolling of the Heifers Parade and Festival which is consistently designated as one of Vermont’s Top 10 Summer events!

Your gift will support and nurture all Strolling of the Heifers initiatives, including:

• The Microloan Fund for New England Farmers, begun with the generous help of Pete Seeger, Tao Rodríguez-Seeger and Guy Davis in two sold-out Farm Relief benefit concerts, and grants from the Windham Foundation and Green Mountain Roasters. This is a first-in-the-nation pioneering effort to help New England farmers obtain much needed credit for their farm improvement projects.
• Our new program to place at-risk youth in learning and working internships on family farms
• Grants to bring farmers to classrooms and students to farms—a core Strolling of the Heifers program since 2002
• Workshops for farmers and teachers
• Our website to teach and inform the public about family farms
• The annual Strolling of the Heifers Parade and Dairy Festival, June 5-7, 2009
