Stay tuned for details of Cowbucks 2010!Here are the result of Cowbucks 2009:
The winner is Ellen M. Spring of Turners Falls, Mass. She will be invited to visit Brattleboro again and choose $1500 in merchandise and services from among the 54 participating downtown businesses. The drawing took place Tuesday, June 16 at noon at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden. The winning ticket was drawn by Dan Yates, president of Brattleboro Savings & Loan, which sponsored the promotion. Yates is also board chair of Building a Better Brattleboro, which organized the promotion along with Strolling of the Heifers. Cowbucks was credited with increasing business at downtown stores during Strolling of the Heifers Weekend. Andrea Livermore, executive ciirector of Building a Better Brattleboro, said: “Large, successful events, like the Strolling of the Heifers can be a challenge in the short term for the retail community, because people come to town to participate in the event rather than to shop. “With Cowbucks, however, we were able to feature Brattleboro’s unique shopping experience. Cowbucks met the needs of the retail community and capitalized on the success of the Stroll.” Orly Munzing, executive director of Strolling of the Heifers, added: “We’ve been interested in working with the downtown business community for some time to develop a winning formula for success on the day of the stroll. I think we really succeeded this year.” Assisting Livermore and Muzing in the organization of Cowbucks was Donna Simons, co-owner of A Candle in the Night.
