The Robert H. Gibson River Garden

Strolling of the Heifers is headquartered at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden, a beautiful building prominently located at 157 Main Street in the heart of downtown Brattleboro.

The River Garden is a public resource for the Brattleboro region. This 4,500 square-foot space will continue to be available as a public resource for informal uses. On a daily basis, we host for free Brown Bag Lunch events at noon, and we offer free wi-fi to visitors.

The River Garden is available as an event space on a rental basis to community organizations, businesses and individuals.

What the River Garden offers: In a highly-visible crossroads location at High and Main Streets in Brattleboro, the River Garden is suitable for a wide variety of events. We’ve hosted large and small sit-down lunches and dinners, concerts, lectures, gala parties, weddings, conferences, cultural festivals, high school proms, food & beverage tastings and demonstrations, farmers’ markets, craft fairs, news conferences, focus groups, public forums, art exhibits and much more.

The River Garden is fully handicapped accessible. Its 4,500 square foot interior accommodates over 200 people in seated configurations, or over 400 for stand-up events. The open atrium, 10-foot ceilings and glass walls front and rear provide a bright, open feeling for daytime events. Newly installed heat pumps ensure the space is comfortable in every season. The rear deck offers a beautiful view of the Connecticut River and Mt. Wantastiquet.

The River Garden is easy for area visitors to find, and there’s plenty of nearby parking. Front sidewalk table and signage space is available for events that rely on pulling in walk-by visitors. Available amenities include tables, chairs, gallery wall space. Catered food and drink can be arranged for any event, and on on-premises kitchen will soon be under construction.
