Strolling of the Heifers: Press Room

Brattleboro, Vermont -- The Strolling of the Heifers, Inc. once again is offering funding for agriculturally related educational opportunities for school children in Windham County. Grants of up to $1,000 will be awarded to projects that raise young people’s awareness about the key role agriculture plays in Vermont’s economy and high quality of life. Participating organizations and schools are encouraged to join forces with local farmers on projects designed to achieve that goal.

According to the Stroll’s Executive Director, Orly Munzing, the non-profit organization is looking for projects that:

Include farmers as partners by making visits to farms, inviting farmers into the classroom, etc.
Raise the agricultural awareness of students in terms of what farmers do, the challenges they face, and their role in our community
Are achievable without unnecessary strain on teachers or farmers and fit naturally into the participants’ educational and agricultural context

Those interested in funding must apply by Friday, March 2, 2007. The Strolling of the Heifers is a 501 C 3. Its mission is to promote awareness of the importance of agriculture in our daily lives and to raise money to fund educationally oriented agricultural programs for youth.
